Pharmacies in Scotland offer a range of NHS and private services which promote patient self care and are convenient and local to the patient.

Consultation and free treatments for minor clinical conditions are provided by the NHS from pharmacies (for eligible patients) under the Minor Ailments service.

All patients can be supplied with free nicotine replacement products along with advice and support for stopping smoking.

If a patient finds themselves without regular medication when their surgery is unavailable, Scottish pharmacists can provide an NHS supply free.

Emergency contraception can also be supplied free in most pharmacies.

A service in which the patient registers with one pharmacy for the pharmacist to assess their pharmaceutical care and address any concerns is offered from all pharmacies in Scotland.
