Message from CHAS

Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) are absolutely delighted to have won the public vote to become the charity of the year for Davidsons chemist. CHAS supports families throughout Scotland and it is lovely to partner with such a recognised Scottish company as Davidsons.

Criona Knight, Corporate Fundraising Manager, said “ We were overwhelmed with the response by the public and staff at Davidsons, both for the nomination and the amazing number of votes we received, we are truly grateful.

CHAS is a charity that provides the only hospice services in Scotland for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. It is our mission to ensure every life is lived to the full, no matter how short. We provide specialist palliative care that is tailored to the child and their family’s needs at home or in one of our two hospices, Rachel House and Robin House.

As well as providing expert nursing and medical care, we offer emotional and practical support for the whole family. This means providing opportunities for lots of fun and enjoyment alongside palliative and medical care – even when we’re dealing with very serious illness and end of life care. We help children and their brothers and sisters to live life to the full, creating treasured memories and shared experiences. We work with parents to develop plans that will capture the whole family’s wishes, hopes and dreams at an early stage. We help to make short lives better.

All the support we receive through the Davidsons partnership will go towards enabling us to provide those wonderful moments and we are so grateful for the support. On top of this we look forward to working closely with the teams and helping them get the most out of the partnership. Here’s to a fantastic year!”

Message from Davidsons

Another great Charity has won our vote for Charity of the Year. Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) won the public vote for our Charity of the year 2017. CHAS is a unique charity, as it is the only charity in Scotland that provides amazing support to children and young people with life shortening illness, as well as being a support for their families. The amount of work and care they provide for these families is amazing and they are hoping to be able to help so many more families. We believe that there is not enough awareness about the struggle that these families go through or about how much CHAS helps these families. With your help they can do so much more.

Our staff are looking forward to holding fundraising events throughout the year as they had done in 2016 for Alzheimer Scotland. We will have collection cans on the counter at each of our branches and have a number of exciting fundraising ideas that we will keep you posted about.

We will set our initial fundraising target at £5,000 but we obviously want to raise much more than this over the course of the year.

We will keep you regularly updated with our fundraising progress on our website and via social media!
